A collie with nothing to herd will find something – the cat, the children, the hoover. Throwing a tennis ball does not touch that instinct. Something big enough to push around does.

The HerdRoll Inflatable Herding Ball is a 45 cm ball for dogs to nose, shoulder and chase across the garden. An anti-burst PVC core sits inside a heavy-duty polyester cover, with a fabric handle so dogs can grab and drag it as well.

One ball in blue with an orange top panel and handle. Inflate it through the valve behind the zipped opening in the cover.

Good to Know

📏 Diameter: about 45 cm inflated
🛡️ Build: anti-burst PVC inner ball in a polyester cover
🔗 Handle: fabric loop for gripping and carrying
🎨 Colour: blue with orange panel
📦 Included: 1 inflatable ball with cover

Why You'll Love It

🐑 Made For Herding Breeds
Pushing, nose-poking and chasing are exactly what collies, shepherds and cattle dogs are bred to do. This gives them a legitimate outlet.

🛡️ Two Layers, Not One
The polyester cover takes the teeth and claws so the PVC core underneath does not. A bare exercise ball would not last an afternoon.

🔗 Something To Grab
The handle lets a dog pick up, drag and tug the ball, which a smooth ball never allows.

🔵 Colours Dogs Can See
Blue and orange stand out clearly to dogs on grass, where red and green tend to disappear.

🏃 Real Exercise
Herding a ball this size is hard work. Twenty minutes of it tires a young dog more than a long walk on the lead.

🧠 Busy Head, Calmer Dog
Working out how to steer the ball keeps the mind occupied as well as the legs, which shows later in the evening.

👐 Games With You
Roll it towards them, block it, send it back. It works as a game between dog and owner too.

🏞️ Garden Or Park
Big enough to see across a field, light enough to carry back under one arm.

🔧 Cover Comes Off
The zipped cover opens to reach the valve, so the core can be topped up or deflated for storage.

Getting Started

Inflate the core inside the cover until it is firm but not drum-tight. Introduce the ball slowly – some dogs are wary of something this big until they find out it moves when they push it.

Play on grass or soft ground away from thorns and sharp edges, and put the ball away when the game is over rather than leaving it out as a chew toy.

Something to herd at last 🐕
